During a recent DUI checkpoint in Rohnert Park, the local Department of Public Safety made one arrest and handed out several citations. The operation occurred on the eastbound Rohnert Park Expressway, just east of State Farm Dr., where 1034 vehicles passed. Officers scrutinized 967 of those, nabbing one driver on a suspended license due to a previous DUI and citing another 10 for operating without a license. Those vehicles, without exception, were released to drivers proving their licensure, as per the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety.
The spots where checkpoints are set up, like last Friday, are tailored based on where the impaired driving crashes are popping up on the stats charts. "With the availability of rideshare, it is unacceptable to drive intoxicated," Deputy Chief Aaron Johnson declared when considering the preventable nature of drunk driving, per the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety.
The Rohnert Park DUI checkpoint received financial support from the California Office of Traffic Safety, which was granted funds to support such initiatives through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
