The Round Rock Police Department recently halted what could have been a grim scenario for a local teen. According to reports, a 16-year-old girl was the victim of an attempted abduction while in her neighborhood on the 1500 block of W Mesa Park Dr.

It was around 5:00 p.m. on March 13, when the incident took place. The teen was approached by a suspect, who attempted to coerce her into his vehicle. However, due to the intervention of a sharp-eyed neighbor, the girl managed to evade the harrowing situation. The Round Rock Police quickly responded to the scene following the incident, according to a press release issued by the department.

Later in their investigation, local law enforcement located and apprehended the alleged perpetrator, Joel Maske, a 30-year-old resident of Round Rock. Maske was found at a residence near the scene of the attempted kidnapping, and authorities did not delay in taking him into custody.

Maske is now behind bars at the Williamson County Jail, where he faces charges for attempted aggravated kidnapping - a second-degree felony. According to the Round Rock Police Department's report, the investigation is still active, and further details are pending.
