The Rowan County Sheriff's Office reported the arrest of Joseph Parham Jr. via a social media post yesterday. Parham was apprehended after deputies conducted an investigative traffic stop on a white Hyundai Kona on Sunday. Information had led them to believe Parham, who was wanted for shooting into an occupied vehicle and being in possession of a firearm as a felon, was a passenger in the vehicle. The social media announcement was made available on the official Facebook page of the Rowan County Sheriff's Office.
During the stop, deputies located Parham at 170 Deer Haven Drive. Approaching the residence, Parham attempted to flee but was quickly ordered to stop by deputies and surrendered. Without any further incident, he was taken into custody. "He complied and was taken into custody without any further incident," the Rowan County Sheriff's Office stated in their post. The arrest occurred at approximately 8:44 a.m., following their investigative lead on the white Hyundai.
Charges against Parham, according to the Rowan County Sheriff's Office, include Discharging a Firearm into Occupied Property and Possession of Firearm by a Felon. Following his arrest, he was transported to Rowan County Detention Center where he is being held under no bond due to Pre-trial Integrity, as noted in their official statement.
This arrest marks another step in the efforts by Rowan County law enforcement to address gun-related crimes in the area. As the case progresses, further updates regarding Parham's trial and any other details will likely be shared by the Sheriff's Office as they become available.
