Rowan County Sheriff's Office has announced a promotion within its ranks. Corporal Patrick Michael has been elevated to the rank of Sergeant and will soon take over as patrol supervisor for D squad. Starting his law enforcement career in 2019, Sgt. Michael has been a part of the Rowan County Sheriff's Office team, with a trajectory that has seen him form a dynamic partnership with the K-9 unit.

According to the Rowan Sheriff's Office social media post, Sgt. Michael first received his K-9, a chocolate lab named Rex, a little over three years ago. Working together for around two years until Rex's retirement, they established a strong team. Having moved on to his new K-9 partner Vader, Michael has continued to successfully fulfill his role within B squad. Now, with the promotion, Sergeant Michael and Vader are scheduled for a return to D squad, where he originally started.

During his tenure, Michael's work has not gone unnoticed. The Rowan Sheriff's Office touts his skills and the strong bond he has forged with the K-9 unit. "Sergeant Michael started his career in law enforcement when he was hired at the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office in December of 2019 where he was assigned to D squad on patrol," they mentioned in their announcement, placing emphasis on his roots in the community and his steady rise through the ranks.

With a commitment to security and public service underpinning his efforts, Sgt. Michael's return to D squad is seen as a positive move both for him and the community. The Sheriff's Office announcement concludes, "We know that together, they will do great things for D squad and the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office."
