Two Roxbury locals were arrested on drug and firearm charges after an investigation by officers from the Boston Police Department. Jonathan Alcantara-Garcia, 40, and Niurka Pimentel-Suero, 37, were taken into custody following a coordinated effort by officers from the District B-3 (Mattapan), B-2 (Roxbury), and E-18 (Hyde Park) Drug Control Units, as reported by Boston Police Department.
On Friday, armed with search warrants for a residence on 2 Guild Street, officers, who had been carefully monitoring the area, observed Alcantara-Garcia leave the residence and commence to carefully drive away. He was subsequently brought to a halt and detained without any incident. Not long after the traffic stop, at around 10:11 AM, the officers carried out a search of the residence, where they encountered Pimentel-Suero. A variety of drugs and a firearm, along with drug paraphernalia and an unspecified sum of money, were seized during this operation, according to Boston Police Department's statement.
The search yielded approximately 800 grams of cocaine, 129 grams of heroin, a Smith & Wesson 9mm firearm with a 16-round magazine with four loaded rounds, and various items associated with drug distribution. The arrests signify a notable step in Boston's ongoing battle against the drug trade, one that continues to impose a heavy toll within the community.
Pimentel-Suero now faces charges of trafficking cocaine and heroin, as well as unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. Similarly, Alcantara-Garcia was charged with trafficking both cocaine and heroin, in addition to the firearm and ammunition offenses. Their arraignment is scheduled at Roxbury District Court.
