A known member of the Renick Way Mob Blood gang in Sacramento, 20-year-old Jose “Baby Tre Nine” Nieto-Romero, was recently arrested in connection with multiple illegal firearms. According to a social media post from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, their Gang Suppression Unit (GSU) Detectives learned of Nieto-Romero's activities, which included supplying firearms to other gang members as well as flaunting these weapons on social media.
Despite a previous arrest in 2022 for shooting at gang rivals—and a resulting conviction leading to a juvenile probation that prohibited him from possessing firearms—Nieto-Romero continued his engagement with illegal weaponry. Furthermore, the GSU has linked his gang to at least seven homicides since 2019 in ongoing conflicts with rival gangs. Nieto-Romero evaded capture for more than a month after detectives executed a multi-location residential search warrant in December of 2024. This action by the Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Detail (SWAT Team) uncovered not only multiple illegal weapons and stolen firearms but also a machine gun and fentanyl.
Nieto-Romero's luck ran out when GSU Detectives located and arrested him while he was hiding in the back seat of a vehicle during a stop. At the time of his arrest, a loaded Ruger 57 pistol was found with him. He was taken to the Sacramento County Main Jail and is being held without eligibility for bail. He is set to appear in court on April 24. In compliance with California law regarding arrests for "non-violent" crimes, Nieto-Romero’s booking photo is not being released, as reported by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
