The City of Sacramento is hosting volunteer clean-up events on April 5 ahead of Earth Day. Residents can take part in litter collection, planting, and landscaping at various locations from 9 a.m. to noon, according to the Sacramento City Express.
Residents are encouraged to participate in community clean-up events, either individually, with family, or in groups. Sarah Kolarik, the City’s sustainability analyst, said, "We have big goals for these events and know our Sacramento community will step up to the challenge." Clean-up locations include California Lilac Park for planting and landscaping, as well as the Sacramento Marina for trash collection and beautification, as stated by the Sacramento City Express.
Participants can register on the City’s website for this citywide clean-up event, which is organized through collaboration among various city offices, including Climate Action, Youth, Parks & Community Enrichment, Department of Utilities, Office of Emergency Management, and Community Engagement. Volunteers should wear practical attire like closed-toe shoes, bring sunscreen and water bottles, and are encouraged to bring personal trash grabbers and work gloves, though the city will provide essential tools and waste removal equipment. Snacks and water refills will be available, and for those seeking a challenge, advanced sites like Arcade Creek require at least a mile of walking, as reported by the Sacramento City Express.
