A Salem man is facing federal charges after being accused of possessing Molotov cocktails in an alleged attempt to damage a Tesla dealership. The man, identified as 41-year-old Adam Matthew Lansky, was arraigned in federal court following his arrest. The Oregon U.S. Attorney's Office charged him with the illegal possession of an unregistered destructive device, as reported by KGW.
According to OregonLive, police discovered fires on the sidewalk and at the back of a Tesla vehicle on the premises, preliminary investigation revealed that a witness observed Lansky with a collapsible wagon from which he allegedly retrieved a bag, he is said to have lit an explosive object before hurling it at a parked red Tesla SUV and also throwing another object through the showroom window.
Lansky’s connection to the dealership's previous vandalism was ascertained by dashcam video from a patrol car that captured a car parked nearby, it turned out that vehicle was registered to Lansky himself, as detailed by KATU. The footage established the link between Lansky and the dealership, aiding in the development of the case against him.
After being taken into custody on Tuesday, he was presented before a judge the following day, during his court appearance, the judge decreed that Lansky would remain incarcerated pending further legal proceedings; this critical part of the suspect's involvement was influential in the continued detainment as authorities forge a path towards a resolution and potential prosecution of the alleged crimes, according to KATU.
