San Antonio International Airport is expecting a record number of travelers this spring break, with projections estimating 230,000 people passing through its terminals. This marks a 4% increase from the previous year, according to KSAT. Popular destinations for travelers include Las Vegas, Denver, and Los Angeles, which were among the top choices last year.
San Antonio International Airport officials recorded 19,000 visitors in one day, with a 5% increase expected over last year. Spring Break has brought travelers from local and international destinations like Mexico City, Cancun, and San Juan. Airport authorities advise passengers to check flight statuses, arrive early, and have necessary documents ready. New TSA screening equipment allows travelers to keep liquids and electronics in their bags, reducing wait times. "Just yesterday we welcomed 19,000 travelers in one day at SAT. Spring Break is here," said Tonya Hope, public relations manager at San Antonio International Airport. Travelers are encouraged to visit the TSA website for packing tips, as reported by Texas Public Radio.
During SpringFest in Market Square, locals like Matthew Alcorta, who is enjoying a staycation in San Antonio, expressed their appreciation for local businesses. "I love just supporting local businesses and stuff like that. It’s always good to have good food. So that’s kind of what we like to experience, and good company. So it’s always fun to be around good people that we know," Alcorta told KSAT. The San Antonio International Airport continues to serve as the gateway for both families and solo travelers exploring the city this spring.
