San Diegans should brace for a week of cooler temperatures, gusty conditions, and occasional light rainfall. With a broad trough settling over the western United States, the San Diego area is set to see a few showers and windy weather patterns through the coming week. "Unsettled weather continues this weekend through next week," the NWS San Diego stated, forecasting that the cooler weather, which includes temperatures a few to around 10 degrees below average, will persist.
For today, regions will experience partly cloudy skies and an increase in low-level moisture, hinting at the possibility of light rain by early Monday morning. Areas like the coastal mountain slopes could receive up to 0.50-0.75 inches of rain. The National Weather Service also issued Wind Advisories for various parts, including the San Diego County Mountains, where isolated gusts may reach 50 to 55 mph through the passes. Elsewhere, the onshore flow will continue to influence breezy conditions along the coast heading into Tuesday.
The anticipated precipitation is relatively minimal, with coastal and valley areas expecting less than 0.10 inches of rain from late Sunday into early Monday. "Even then, forcing is minimal enough that outside of the coastal mountain slopes, 0.10" or less of rain is expected," commented the NWS in their Area Forecast Discussion. Light showers could persist over the mountains and foothills through Wednesday, with a slight chance for wider-spread rain towards the end of the week.
