In a turn of events that unfolded over the past couple of days, the Colma Police Department reported the apprehension of a wanted man after a brief on-foot pursuit. According to a social media post from the Colma Police Department, the interaction initially began as a consensual contact behind the Metro Mall Shopping center on Sunday, wherein a male provided his name and date of birth to the officers before walking away.

Soon after the man's departure, officers performed a records check that revealed his connection to four misdemeanor warrants and one felony warrant. The man was spotted again at 7:49 PM walking in the Colma BART parking lot. Having been advised of his warrants and instructed to halt, the suspect ignored the orders and initiated the chase by running through the lot, where he was ultimately caught.

Upon his arrest, officers discovered merchandise with security sensors still attached inside a plastic bag possessed by the individual. Further investigation by the Colma officers yesterday confirmed the items to be stolen, with a value of $1,451.43, from a business located at the Serramonte Mall in Daly City.

The suspect, identified as Robert Sims, a 40-year-old resident of San Francisco, was arrested for obstructing/resisting arrest in addition to the prior warrants. Following these events, Sims was booked into the San Mateo County Jail, and the grand theft case was referred to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office for prosecution.
