In a routine traffic stop turned gun discovery, Santa Rosa Police apprehended two individuals after finding loaded firearms in their vehicle last night. According to a social media post by the Santa Rosa Police Department, an officer initiated the stop at around 7:30 p.m. for a moving violation in the 3500 block of Industrial Drive. Upon making contact with the driver and passenger, the officer noted a distinct scent of freshly burnt marijuana that eventually led to a vehicle search.

Hidden under the front passenger seat, two 9mm handguns were uncovered by the police officer. The driver, a 16-year-old juvenile whose identity remains protected due to age, faces multiple charges, including carrying a loaded firearm in a public place and altering a firearm's identification number, as stated by the Santa Rosa Police Department. Charged with similar offenses, the 21-year-old passenger, Carlos Alex Diosdado-Martinez, also encountered an additional count of child endangerment, as the guns were found near where he sat.

Following the stop, the department took the juvenile into custody and booked him into a juvenile detention facility. Carlos Alex Diosdado-Martinez was arrested and detained for his involvement.
