Last night, chaos unfolded in Wood Village as a reckless driver and passenger engaged in a dramatic escape from law enforcement, prompting a substantial search operation. According to the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office (MCSO), deputies attempted to stop a vehicle just before 11:00 p.m. on Monday. What quickly escalated into a scene of desperation saw the female passenger fire a gunshot into the ground before fleeing on foot into the Wood Village Green Mobile Home Park, with the driver taking off in their vehicle onto I-84.
In response, the MCSO, alongside the Gresham Police Department (GPD), GPD drone operators, and the East Metro SWAT team, cordoned off the area and scoured the scene for approximately four hours. Curiously, over a thousand dollars in cash was discovered near the entrance of the mobile home park—yet despite the extensive search efforts, law enforcement officials were unable to apprehend the suspect. MCSO has turned to the community for assistance, requesting that anyone with information about the incident come forward.
The MCSO communicated through a statement: "The investigation is still ongoing." They encourage residents to report any unusual overnight activities and to review home security footage that may contain evidence leading to the suspects' identities.
