A woman remains missing following a harrowing incident on Sunday afternoon when she and her dog were swept away by the strong current of the Carbon River in Pierce County. Despite extensive search efforts that have unfolded over the past few days, only the dog has been found so far. The call for help was reported to authorities around noon, as detailed by KING5 after the woman's boyfriend had to trek 10 to 15 minutes away to find cell reception.

He reportedly came back to find that the woman and the dog were gone. Search and rescue operations, involving more than 20 personnel from various agencies, are in progress, as per KING5.

The incident occurred beneath the Fairfax Bridge, where the 29-year-old woman was walking with another person and her dog. According to MyNorthwest, the fall into the river happened around 11:45 a.m.

"A drone located the dog alive approximately two miles from where they fell, but Zuleika was not found," as stated by KOMO News.
