Last Friday, Seattle police officers made a significant arrest on Capitol Hill, detaining a 32-year-old man for suspected drug dealing and multiple outstanding warrants. According to SPD Blotter, the individual was under surveillance when he was approached by potential buyers near Broadway and East Pike Street. Noticing a police car, the suspect attempted to leave the scene but was apprehended by the officers shortly thereafter.
The search following the arrest led to the discovery of various substances including 20 grams of what is suspected to be Xanax, 1.5 grams of methamphetamine, and 8 grams of fentanyl, in addition to digital scales, packaging materials, and $683 in cash. The suspect had a history with the law, already under Department of Corrections supervision for drug violations,, and had been previously ordered by the King County Superior Court to steer clear of known drug areas.
Interestingly, the suspect could not be immediately booked into King County Jail due to medical reasons and was instead sent to Harborview Medical Center for evaluation. After several hours, he was returned to jail, only to be declined booking for a second time and sent back to the medical center. He was finally booked into the jail following further evaluation.
The charges the individual now faces are severe and multiple: including sale and delivery of drugs like opium derivatives and methamphetamine, criminal impersonation, narcotics violation, criminal trespass, criminal attempt, unlawful use of weapons, and arrest warrants. The Narcotics Unit detectives are following up on the case and seized narcotics, money,, and equipment—all evidence pointing to the crime of narcotics sale/delivery.
