
Seattle police have arrested a 48-year-old woman on charges of kidnapping after she allegedly took a 1 1/2-year-old girl from a daycare in South Seattle. According to the Seattle Police Department's Blotter, the incident occurred on the 9300 block of Rainier Avenue South, and officers responded to the scene at approximately 2:46 p.m.
The woman, who is known to the mother of the child, reportedly fled the scene in a gray sports car. After a coordinated search effort between several law enforcement agencies, authorities tracked the suspect to Pacific Highway South and South 324th Street in Federal Way. Despite an initial attempt to evade police by foot, the suspect was apprehended by Federal Way Police officers shortly after, as reported by the Seattle Police Department.
Following the arrest, the child was safely rescued around 5:45 p.m. and was later reunited with her family at the Seattle Police Department's South Precinct. The suspect was initially transported to the Federal Way police station before being taken into custody by Seattle police.
Detectives at the Seattle Police Headquarters are set to interview the suspect before booking her into King County Jail. As for the child involved in this ordeal, the circumstances that led to her kidnapping are currently under investigation. The Seattle Police Department has not released any further details regarding the motive behind the abduction or the relationship between the woman and the child's family.
