The Metropolitan Police Department has announced the apprehension of a second individual linked to a series of burglaries that victimized multiple businesses in December. The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Stuart Scott of Northwest, was arrested by the Capital Area Regional Taskforce on Tuesday, March 11, under a DC Superior Court warrant, according to the MPD report. Scott is now facing multiple charges related to the burglary offenses.
These crimes initially unfolded on December 2, 2024, when a chain of burglaries struck different locations, starting as early as 2:41 a.m. on K Street and spanning to various blocks across Northeast and Northwest Washington. Prior to Scott's arrest, 19-year-old Ryan Howell was taken into custody on February 21 and charged in relation to these incidents. Details of the offenses, which include a number of "Burglary Two" and "Destruction of Property" charges, were laid out by the Metropolitan Police Department in a recent statement.
In addition to the December 2 spree, Scott is allegedly connected to eight other burglary-related offenses that occurred between December 9 and December 10. These incidents also involved both burglaries and property destruction, primarily concentrated in the Northeast quadrant of the city with multiple incidents on Morse Street and the surrounding area. The new charges related to these later offenses suggest a continuation of the previous burglary patterns.
