In a definitive move by the Sevier County Beer Board, Jimmy's Market #12, a local business situated at 12221 Chapman Highway in Seymour, Tennessee, has been stripped of its beer permit following an incident last year where it sold alcohol to underage individuals. This decision was enacted on Monday, as confirmed by the Sevier County Sheriff's Office, which emphasized their commitment to cracking down on such illegal activities.
The permit revocation was the outcome of a citation issued on November 21, 2024, for selling alcohol to minors. In a recent notice, "These types of crimes will always be a priority for the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office," affirmed Sevier County Sheriff Michael Hodges, "I want to personally thank the Seymour community, the Beer Board, the Sevier County Clerk’s Office, and the sheriff’s office deputies and detectives for their diligence and hard work," in a statement obtained by WVLT.
Furthermore, the law stipulates that within this embargo period, no new permit can be reissued for the same premises, nor can it be transferred to any family member related to the original permit holder. “Under state law, no new permit or license can be issued for the same premises for one year," added Sheriff Hodges in a notice echoed by a WATE report, "The board may issue a new permit before the end of the one-year period if the applicant is not the original holder of the permit or any family member who could inherit it from them."
As stated in a social media post from the Sheriff's Office, Sheriff Michael R. Hodges, Jr. expressed his gratitude, "These types of crimes will always be a priority for the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office."
