Commuters navigating the Interstate 90/State Route 18 interchange near Snoqualmie are facing a series of lane and ramp closures over four nights starting Monday, March 10. The closures are a necessary disruption to make way for the I-90/SR 18 Interchange Improvements project, which includes the construction of a new diverging diamond interchange and the widening of SR 18 south of I-90, as reported by the City of North Bend.
During these evenings, those traveling should plan to adjust their routes and prepare to quickly follow the guidance from on-site police officers, work crews, and road signs. According to details posted on the City of North Bend website, the SR 18/Snoqualmie Parkway on-ramp to eastbound I-90 will be the first to shut down from 9 p.m. on March 10 until 5 a.m. the following morning.
The subsequent nights will see more extensive closures: eastbound I-90's left two lanes will be off-limits near the SR 18 interchange from 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, until 1 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, followed by a closure of the right two lanes starting 9 p.m. on March 12 until just past midnight. For local routes, SR 18/Snoqualmie Parkway will be notably affected, including a reduction to a single lane under I-90 bridges and flaggers alternating traffic on the night of March 13 into the early hours of March 14, as detailed by the City of North Bend.
There's also going to be an Eastbound I-90 off-ramp closure at SR 18/Snoqualmie Parkway starting 9 p.m. on March 12 until the morning of March 13. For those impacted, a detour will be in place to aid in maneuvering the disruptions. These closures are part of the efforts by contractor crews who are busily installing new signs, traffic signals, and working on conduits and road crossings in the area, as reported by the City of North Bend.
