Seattle woke Sunday to smoky skies and temperatures around 61 degrees at Boeing Field, but the forecast quickly turns bright. The city is headed for a sunny afternoon with a high near 78, light winds and little chance of rain.
A Bright, Breezy Afternoon
Temperatures are expected to climb through the 60s and 70s, reaching the upper 70s by late afternoon as northwest winds rise to roughly 2 to 6 mph. The National Weather Service puts Sunday’s rain chance at essentially zero, making it a solid day for parks, patios and waterfront walks.
Cool Nights And Little Rain Ahead
Sunday night will stay partly cloudy with a low near 58, followed by mostly sunny weather Monday and Tuesday with highs around 78 and 77 degrees. Wednesday may be a touch cooler near 75, while rain chances remain minimal across the city.
Warmth Builds Again Friday
The next noticeable warmup arrives Thursday through Saturday, with highs near 77 Thursday, 82 Friday and 81 Saturday. Overnight temperatures will remain comfortable, generally in the upper 50s to around 60 degrees.
Smoke is still part of Sunday’s setup, even though visibility at Boeing Field was about 10 miles and no land-based weather alerts were posted for Seattle. People who are sensitive to smoky air can check conditions through the Washington Department of Ecology before spending extended time outdoors.
Boaters Should Watch The Strait
Most Seattle residents can expect quiet weather on land, but boaters should note marine hazards in the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The National Weather Service listed a Small Craft Advisory from Sunday afternoon into early Monday, following an overnight gale warning for parts of the central and eastern Strait.
