
An apartment fire in Southeast D.C. last night resulted in one person being hospitalized and another displaced. The fire occurred in the 100 block of 53rd St SE, and DC Fire and EMS responded around 6 p.m., bringing the blaze under control. According to DC News Now, the fire started in a first-floor unit of a two-story building.
The fire was quickly contained, as noted in a social media post by the DC Fire and EMS Department. One resident suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. The Red Cross assisted the individual displaced by the fire, as reported by WJLA.
After extinguishing the flames, fire investigators began working to determine the cause of the fire.
