
On Sunday morning, the Metropolitan Police Department responded to a shooting incident in Southeast D.C. According to MPD's official release, officers from the Sixth District arrived at the 1100 block of Chaplin Street, Southeast, around 3:28 a.m., following a report of gunfire. There, they discovered Marcus Kelly, a 42-year-old man from Upper Marlboro, MD, critically wounded from a gunshot. Despite attempts to save him, Kelly's injuries were fatal.
The search for the perpetrator is underway, with the MPD requesting assistance from the community. The police department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for tips leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
