Rose from the Houston Police Department's Vehicular Crimes Division indicated that the car's speedometer was frozen at 80 miles per hour, suggesting an impact so severe to lodge it in place.
Further details, obtained by KHOU, reveal that the incident unfolded just before 3 a.m. and the driver may have been driving significantly above the 30 miles per hour speed limit. Despite the final reading on the speedometer, it's been suggested the driver was possibly traveling even faster prior to losing control. The sole occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, with their identity yet to be released by authorities.
