A vehicle collision with a power transformer in St. Cloud last Saturday afternoon led to a fire that engulfed the vehicle and a building nearby. As reported by FOX 35 Orlando, the St. Cloud Fire Department responded with multiple units to tackle the blaze, which was successfully contained without any reported injuries.
In an effort to manage the situation, the Orlando Utilities Commission cut power to allow the firefighters to extinguish the fire safely. This resulted in the traffic signal at the intersection of U.S. 192 and Old Hickory Tree Road being powered down, which fire officials acknowledge could disrupt traffic flow and are thus urging drivers to exercise caution.
The Osceola County Fire Rescue Department also assisted, working together in response to the urgent situation.
