Today, the St. Petersburg Police Department found an unidentifiable body in the thickets of Weedon Island Preserve. The remains, in a decomposed state, are being examined by the Pinellas County Medical Examiner, who will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death. A few personal items found by a park ranger on Friday led to the search, which included helicopter surveys before the remains were discovered, as reported by WFLA.

The body was discovered in dense foliage deep within the preserve, near the location where 17-year-old Allister Nasr was last seen. Nasr had been missing since the evening of March 1, when he left home on his bike, according to WTSP. A bike, found discarded near the preserve just days ago, adds significance to the investigation and his disappearance. "The Pinellas County Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death and attempt to identify the body," officers stated following the discovery.

Detectives from the St. Petersburg Police Department are currently unable to identify the body due to its condition, according to an ABC Action News report. Search efforts for Nasr included ground searches, drones, helicopters with thermal imaging, and boats in the preserve's waters. The search was renewed after personal items found by a park ranger led to the discovery of the body yesterday.
