St. Petersburg Police Department is appealing to the public for information on an incident involving a black SUV and a pedestrian collision that resulted in serious injuries to a 62-year-old man. The man, who was riding his electric scooter, fell into the street just to be struck by the vehicle in question, the St. Petersburg Police Department reported.
The accident took place on Sunday, at around 5 p.m near the intersection of 34th Street North and 22nd Avenue North, the scooter rider attempted to turn east on 22nd Avenue but lost control and fell, an SUV that was traveling behind him hit the man, after he tumbled onto the road and the vehicle failed to stop, instead continuing eastbound as per the St. Petersburg Police Department.
Injuries sustained by the victim were described as serious, but no further details on their condition have been released at this time. The incident has prompted a city-wide search for the driver who fled the scene, with police asking anyone with information to come forward.
