According to CBS News Detroit, AAA-The Auto Club Group has reported an average price for regular unleaded gasoline in the state holding steady at $3.05 per gallon. This figure represents a 3-cent drop from the previous month and a decrease of 55 cents from the same period in the previous year.
On a more localized level, metro Detroit's average has also remained unchanged at $3.03 per gallon, matching last week's figures, a statement obtained by WXYZ. Drivers are seeing a slight decrease in fuel costs, with the average price to fill a 15-gallon tank around $45, which is about $12 less than the peak prices recorded in July of last year.
The landscape of gas prices across Michigan boasts both highs and lows. The most expensive gas price averages reside in Lansing, Grand Rapids, and Jackson, all checking in at $3.07 per gallon. On the flip side, the least expensive averages were found in Marquette at $2.97, Traverse City at $3.00, and Flint at $3.01, as per the details provided by WNMU-FM.

AAA noted that while there has been a slight increase in both gasoline demand and production over the last week, gasoline inventories fell to about 5% below the five-year average for this time of year, according to an interview conducted by WNMU-FM. The Energy Information Administration’s figures showed a decrease in crude oil inventories by 1.4 million barrels, leaving them at approximately 435.2 million barrels. Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson for AAA-The Auto Club Group, reflected this sentiment by stating, "With the state average holding steady, Michigan drivers are seeing similar pump prices to this time last week."
