Sterling Heights authorities are currently searching for a group of individuals involved in a restaurant theft incident, as reported by WWJ Newsradio. A trio of young men who appear to be in their late teens or early 20s is wanted after dining at Johnny Black's Public House on Moravian and fleeing without settling their bill. The group notably ordered high-priced items such as lobster and ribeye steaks before they made their departure.
Audacy described how the alleged dine and dash took place: the males left the establishment on foot after their server momentarily walked away, and later, they were seen escaping in a late 2000s Chevy sedan, according to surveillance photos. These images have since been disseminated on Facebook, encouraging the public to help in identifying the culprits. Emotions among the commenters ranged from disappointment to offering solutions for restaurants to prevent similar incidents, including one comment that read, "Restaurants need to just swipe a credit card from everyone and put a hold on it like a gas pump does. You walk away from your bill then you still get charged," from an individual using the screen name Haywood Jaablowme.
The incident has also been highlighted by the Scanner of Warren Facebook page, which posted social media surveillance photos and described how the individuals savored lobster tails, and ribeyes before leaving without payment. The post, aiming to spread awareness and solicit tips, echoed the surprise and criticism found elsewhere online over the act.
