The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has arrested 38-year-old Shontelle Mann from Stockbridge on charges including Identity Fraud, Computer Forgery, and Intimidation or Injury of a Court Official. The arrest follows an investigation into death threats made against a Douglas County Superior Court Judge in June 2024. The threats were initially believed to have come from an inmate in the Georgia Department of Corrections, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation release.
However, GBI agents later discovered that the threats were not from an inmate, but were allegedly made by Mann, who had pretended to be one. The GBI was assisted by the Georgia Department of Corrections, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, and the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office. Mann has been booked into the Douglas County Jail.
The Douglas County District Attorney’s Office, which originally referred the case to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, is now preparing for prosecution as the investigation continues. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is asking anyone with relevant information to come forward.
The GBI encourages the public to submit tips anonymously through their website, a dedicated tip line, or a mobile app. The investigation will be handed over to the Douglas County District Attorney's Office once completed, where Mann will face charges in court.
