Bringing a bit of unconventional camaraderie to the annual SPYA Public Safety Day, the Stockton Police Department is stepping into the digital arena with a first-of-its-kind video game tournament, the department announced on social media. Players can join in the competition with the hopes of winning a coveted Sony Playstation 5. The digital face-off will feature none other than the Police Chief himself, as gamers go head to head in 2K Games' NBA 2K25.
The competitive gaming event, set for May 17 at the Weber Point Event Center, begins at 11:00 a.m., promising a mix of engagement and entertainment. According to their Facebook post, 32 players will compete in the first session, battling fiercely to secure a spot among the top eight.
Those who advance past the initial round will compete in the final stage held in Chief McFadden's office, where top scores will determine the grand prize winner. The tournament is part of Public Safety Day, an event aimed at fostering community engagement. The winner will receive a Sony PlayStation 5. For those interested in participating, registration details and event specifics can be found on the official event page.
