Overnight break-ins have left three Allendale eateries grappling with theft after a man forced entry into Peppino's Pizzeria & Sports Grille, Jet's Pizza, and Dairy Queen, clearing out their cash registers. According to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office, surveillance footage captures the suspect, a man utilizing a crowbar to gain access to the establishments located along Lake Michigan Dr., just east of 52nd Ave.
FOX 17 Online reported the ongoing investigation, which has not disclosed the amount stolen; officials were seen examining the evidence of the tampered cash registers in the mentioned locales. Wyoming Police contributed their K-9 Team to the search efforts, however, the trail went cold, and the suspect remains at large.
Additional details from WOODTV reveal that the intrusion at Peppino's Pizzeria & Sports Grille was first identified due to an alarm shortly before 1 a.m. today, capturing the individual smashing a glass door and targeting the cash registers directly. Though the co-owner of Peppino's indicated no monetary loss or property damage, the footage suggests otherwise.
Meanwhile, the owner of the Jet's Pizza franchise shared the surveillance video with News 8, which showed the suspect making his way inside the restaurant and looting the cash, though an exact figure has not been disclosed. "The owner said the thief seemed to get away with some cash, but didn’t have a dollar amount," as stated by WOODTV. A Dairy Queen representative declined to comment when approached; the overall community now holds its breath, waiting for the next move in this troubling sequence of events.
Information regarding the theft and the investigation comes piecemeal, yet those in possession of insights into the identity of the man responsible for these break-ins are being urged to come forward. Sources such as WZZM13 encourage individuals with any knowledge that could aid in the suspect’s capture to contact authorities at Ottawa County Central Dispatch or the Silent Observer hotline.
