A man was fatally shot outside a Glendale shopping plaza on Saturday and a suspect is now in custody, according to multiple news outlets. The Glendale Police Department responded swiftly to reports of gunfire at approximately 3 p.m. in the 500 block of West Colorado Street, as mentioned in a report by KTLA. Tragically, they discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds.
Ambulance crews also rushed to assist and transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he would be later pronounced dead. Meanwhile, detectives worked to quickly identify and locate the suspect. Their efforts paid off when, around 9 p.m., the suspect was arrested in the city of Los Angeles, reflecting a determination to not allow the suspect to remain at large for long, as CBS News Los Angeles reported.
The identity of the victim has yet to be released, pending notification of the next of kin. NBC Los Angeles added that the motives behind the shooting are currently unclear, and the suspect's identity has not been disclosed due to the ongoing investigation. Glendale Police believe the event was an isolated incident and reassured the public that there is no further danger.
Photos taken at the scene show a section of the shopping plaza, inclusive of a 7-Eleven and other storefronts, was cordoned off by police tape. The Glendale Police Department has urged anyone with information about the shooting to come forward and assist by contacting them at 818-548-4911. The case is set to be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for the consideration of charges next week as the official Glendale government website stated.
