Following a shooting near Pasadena Memorial High School that left two students injured, police have named 19-year-old Damian Alexander Saiz as the suspect in the case. The confrontation that escalated into gunfire took place just before 3 p.m. last Friday in a church parking lot across the street from the school, investigators told KHOU. Saiz, who is not currently a student in the Pasadena Independent School District, fired the shots during what appeared to be a large fight precipitated by the arrival of two vehicles.
Videos from the scene capture several students involved in an altercation just before gunshots were heard, causing them to flee. Following the incident, one of the victims was able to leave the hospital, while the other remains hospitalized in stable condition, according to FOX26 Houston. The same source notes that both teens were students at Memorial High School with one having been shot in the upper torso/chest area and the other sustaining a gunshot wound to the left forearm.
Authorities caution that Saiz should be considered armed and dangerous. The public is urged not approach the suspect but instead, anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Pasadena Police Department at 713-477-1221 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. Both outlets are actively seeking information to assist in the apprehension of Saiz.
