
Tragedy struck in Sacramento last Friday when police responded to reports of a fatal shooting. In a statement posted on the Sacramento Police Department official Facebook page, confirmed that officers were dispatched to the 7500 Block of Center Parkway following a call received shortly after 5:45 p.m. Upon arrival, they found an adult female suffering from at least one gunshot wound who was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene by fire personnel.
The investigation, led by homicide detectives and crime scene investigators, began immediately as the area was processed for evidence while witnesses were interviewed. During these proceedings, the suspect, identified as 64-year-old John Binion of Sacramento, took the initiative to present himself to the authorities, turning himself in at the Sacramento County Main Jail. The Sacramento Police Department has stated, "Investigators interviewed Mr. Binion and later booked him into jail on homicide related charges."
The case is ongoing as detectives continue to unravel the circumstances of the incident. The identity of the deceased woman will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after her family has been notified. Reflecting the gravity of the situation, law enforcement has appealed to the public for help. They are urging anyone with information about the incident to reach out to the dispatch center or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers, where callers have the option to remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward up to $1,000, as per the Sacramento Police Department.
