An incident involving a suspected drunk driver and a patrol vehicle occurred in Harris County on Tuesday. Deputies from Constable Mark Herman's Office were investigating a vehicle burglary on the 21400 block of Cypresswood Drive when the driver, identified as Edward Cervantes, failed to maintain his lane and collided with a Precinct 4 patrol car, as reported by the Harris County Constable Precinct 4.
Cervantes' vehicle stopped working while he was trying to escape, and he was detained. Officers noticed signs that he was intoxicated and found several loaded firearms with him. He took Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which confirmed he was under the influence, as stated by the Harris County Constable Precinct 4.
"Edward Cervantes was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Driving While Intoxicated 2nd offense, Fail to Stop and Give Information and Unlawful Carry of a Weapon," according to the Harris County Constable Precinct 4 on their Facebook page. This is his second offense for drinking and driving. His bond was set at $4,500.
