Early this morning, in Pittsburgh's East Liberty neighborhood, authorities quickly acted upon a report of a suspicious package. The Pittsburgh Police Bomb Squad and Fire and EMS units converged on the 5900 block of Baum Boulevard.
As stated in a press release from the City of Pittsburgh, an employee noticed the ominous parcel and dialed 911, setting a swift evacuation of the nearby building into motion. The suspicious box contained a jumble of papers, wires, and vials filled with an unknown liquid, which could quickly stir visions of more significant threats to public safety.
The Hazardous Materials Unit (Hazmat) soon arrived to scrutinize the package's contents. Their analysis concluded that the materials posed no threat, which likely relieved businesses and residents in the bustling district.
