
On Wednesday, a fire broke out in Kalihi. A call was made at 5:55 a.m., and fire units were sent to a two-story residential building at 1128 Banyan Street, where black smoke was seen, according to the Honolulu Fire Department.
First responders arrived at 6:02 a.m., seven minutes after being called, and found black smoke coming from the building. Firefighters, with 38 personnel across 10 units, worked to extinguish the fire. They confirmed the building was empty. The fire was controlled by 6:21 a.m. and fully resolved by 6:50 a.m., as reported by the Honolulu Fire Department.
A fire occurred on North Vineyard Boulevard, prompting the response of 7 units and 26 firefighters. The fire spread to the second floor of a building, and firefighters worked to secure a water source and contain the blaze. The fire was under control by 6:45 a.m. and fully extinguished by 7:15 a.m. The Honolulu Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire, and a detailed report will be provided when the investigation is complete.
