For those wanting to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with a bit of emerald flair, the River O' Green Festival begins today at Curtis Hixon Park from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sponsored by Grow Financial and organized by the Tampa Downtown Partnership, the event will feature live music, poetry readings, and traditional Irish dances from the Finnegan Irish Dance Academy. A variety of Irish-themed food and drinks will be available, along with contests and prizes to keep the festivities lively, as reported by the City of Tampa.

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade, hosted by Tampa Rough Riders, Inc., will begin at 3 p.m., starting at Morgan St. and Madison St., turning onto Ashley Dr., and ending at the intersection of Ashley Dr. and Polk St. Post-parade road closures are expected to affect traffic patterns, so it is advised to follow the signs and plan accordingly.

An estimated 10,000 people are expected to attend both events, which may lead to traffic congestion in downtown. Event organizers suggest arriving early for parking or using alternative transportation options such as the Free TECO Streetcar, Dash Service, HART bus, rented scooters, or rideshare services.

Several City of Tampa Parking Garages will be open for the event, offering attendees parking options. Those using the Free TECO Streetcar should note that it is free of charge, providing an alternative way to attend the city's St. Patrick's Day celebration without navigating traffic congestion.
