Vallejo Police Department apprehended two suspects on Monday in connection with a burglary at a local elementary school. A teacher's alertness and detailed reporting enabled a swift response. According to a social media post by the Vallejo Police Department, the incident occurred at a school on the 800 block of Cedar Street when a teacher caught a suspect emerging from a classroom window with laptops.
The teacher confronted the suspect, urging him to reconsider the theft, but was ignored as the suspect continued to flee, discarding the laptops over a schoolyard fence. Despite the setback, her prompt and pointed description of the suspect led law enforcement to canvass the neighborhood effectively. Officers detained a male near Steffan Street who matched the teacher's description of the perpetrator.
Concurrently, a second witness's tip-off about a suspected lookout led to the detainment of another male. Upon searching the first suspect, officers uncovered multiple Chromebooks skillfully concealed within his attire. The stolen goods, which included nine laptops and an external hard drive valued at over $2,000, were reclaimed and returned to the school.
The apprehended individuals were positively identified by eyewitnesses during an in-field show-up, leading to their arrests on burglary charges. The individual found with the laptops was revealed to be a minor and was subsequently transported to the Solano County Juvenile Detention Facility. His parent was contacted following the charge. The second male, confirmed to be an adult, was booked into the Solano County Jail.
