Heads up, Progress Village residents and commuters – you'll need to plan for a detour starting next week. The eastbound direction of Progress Boulevard will be temporarily closed from S. 82nd Street to S. 85th Street for underground utility work, beginning Wednesday, April 2, and lasting until April 23, Hillsborough County officials announced.
The road closure is set to disrupt the usual traffic flow, with detours redirecting vehicles to S. 78th Street and U.S. 301. According to county representatives, these alternate routes will be clearly signposted to assist drivers in navigating around the affected area. With this change, transit times might be extended, and, drivers are encouraged to allow for extra travel time or seek alternative transportation methods.
The Public Works department has arranged for navigation apps to be updated, directing drivers to the recommended detour routes. This should ease the transition for those who rely on digital guidance when traveling.
