Three individuals were placed under arrest in Apple Valley and Hesperia on multiple charges, including burglary and possession of stolen property. According to a report released by the SBSD Apple Valley Police Department, the arrests spanned a sequence of events that began last Sunday, March 9 and concluded with the serving of a search warrant on Tuesday, March 11.
The series of incidents initially unfolded when Deputy D. McCarter was dispatched following a report of a stolen vehicle on Dandelion Lane in Apple Valley. Through video surveillance and GPS tracking, authorities were able to quickly locate a suspect vehicle and eventually detain two individuals, Cristian Matthew Duran and Briana Wilson. During the unfolding operation, a related burglary was reported on Cholena Road, where residents returning from church discovered their home ransacked, with items missing and the subjects captured on video, as detailed by the SBSD Apple Valley Police Department.
The investigation was furthered when Joseph Alan Canum was stopped by Deputy C. Lajuj on Monday, March 10, driving a stolen Land Rover linked to both prior incidents. Inside the vehicle, property from the vehicle theft and additional stolen items tied him quickly to the earlier burglary. On Tuesday, March 11, deputies executed a search warrant at an address on Ivy Avenue in Hesperia, where they recovered the stolen property from the vehicle reported on Dandelion Lane, as well as brass knuckles and methamphetamine.
Cristian Matthew Duran was booked into High Desert Detention Center "on charges of possession of stolen property," and is held without bail for a parole violation. Joseph Alan Canum is "being held in lieu of $280,000 bail" and also without bail for a parole violation. Briana Lee Wilson's bail was set at $30,000, with charges including possession of stolen property, brass knuckles, and methamphetamine, as per the SBSD Apple Valley Police Department.
