Community members are supporting families affected by the 12-car pileup last Saturday on I-10 in Tonopah. The crash claimed four lives. GoFundMe accounts have been set up to help with financial difficulties and recovery, according to FOX 10 Phoenix and Ground News.
Among those who lost their lives was Dustin Cluff, a father of three. "He has always just been a rebel, he was always super adventurous, he was very daring," said his ex-wife, Niki Cluff. She said the family is still processing the loss. "The girls and I just kind of expected somebody to call us and say, 'We were just joking. He's in the hospital. He'll be back.' And it just doesn't, it doesn't feel real," as stated by FOX 10 Phoenix.
A pileup resulted in multiple injuries, with some victims still in the hospital. Shannon and Mike Smith were among those injured, and Shannon remains hospitalized with serious burns. The Smith family’s dog, Lou Lou, went missing during the crash. "You guys are messing with somebody's, that's like their child. I mean, my father-in-law is going crazy, because he rescued that dog," said Mandy Smith. Arizona DPS is investigating the crash, with speculation about the impact of blowing dust and strong winds. Crowdfunding efforts are underway to support those affected, as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix.
