Tragedy struck Climax Township on Sunday as a large tree, destabilized by severe weather, fatally crushed a minivan, claiming the lives of three children and leaving three other family members hospitalized. According to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office, deputies arrived at East S Avenue, just west of South 47th Street at approximately 5:40 p.m. following the fatal incident. The deceased children ranged in age from 2 to 11, with the two youngest being siblings and the eldest their cousin, all hailing from Branch County.
The survivors, whose identities have not been disclosed, include the parents of the siblings and a fourth child.
