A devastating incident on Marion Rd. has left one person dead after a vehicle went off the road and struck a pedestrian. The Columbus Police Department reports that the accident happened in front of Marion Square Apartments at approximately 4:49 P.M. on Wednesday. Julio Garcia was walking on the sidewalk when a 2007 Nissan 350 Z, heading westbound, suddenly veered off the road and hit him.
Emergency services rushed to the scene to aid Mr. Garcia, who was quickly transported to Ohio Health Grant Medical Center in a life-threatening condition. Tragically, the pedestrian did not survive and was pronounced dead at 5:17 P.M. The Columbus Police Department's Accident Investigation Unit arrived shortly after and began to thoroughly look into what led to this fatal collision. Their investigation is still ongoing, and details surrounding the cause of the accident have yet to be released publicly.
