
Two individuals were hospitalized following a house fire on Friday evening in the Crowders Mountain area of Gaston County. The fire broke out just before 6:40 p.m. along Twisted Oaks Lane, as reported by WCNC. Responding first to the emergency, Crowders Mountain Fire Department crews found the home engulfed with heavy smoke and flames already visible.
While the fire raged, four people were inside the home, contrasting with the responders who battled to quell the inferno, two of which needed immediate medical attention for burns and smoke inhalation. "One is being treated at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, while the other was flown to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist’s Burn Center," as per the information obtained by Gaston County government's official website. The condition of the two hospitalized individuals has not been disclosed at this time.
Investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway by the Gaston County Office of Emergency Management and Fire Services. Meanwhile, the American Red Cross has stepped in to offer assistance to those displaced by the tragedy, providing resources to address their immediate needs, as mentioned by WBTV.
The collaborative effort to handle the crisis saw various fire departments joining forces with Crowders Mountain Fire Department, which included teams from Gastonia, Union Road, Crouse, Waco, Clover, and Bethany Fire. As revealed by the same fire, the team were supported by Gaston County Police and Gaston County Emergency Medical Services, which highlights the coordinated response to emergencies across the county agencies.
