The disturbance erupted following a physical fight at a party; witnesses named Daniel Moore, born February 25, 2005, as one of the individuals engaged in an altercation it's said during the disagreement, Harley Wilkerson, born September 14, 2004, let off multiple handgun rounds into the ground in an attempt to dissolve the fray, Wilkerson and Moore left the scene with another individual in a Ford F250. According to statements, while leaving, Wilkerson shot into a group of bystanders from a rifle, striking the victim involved in the initial conflict with Moore. The deputies later found the suspects' truck in Spring Hill, guns visible inside the vehicle, leading to the detention and identification of the pair and an unnamed third party also present at the party.

Both men were identified by eyewitnesses and apprehended after a traffic stop; deputies found a rifle and a handgun in their possession. "Wilkerson confirmed to detectives that he fired the rounds from the rifle into the crowd," as per the Hernando County Sheriff's Office's release. Following the arrest, Wilkerson is facing charges including attempted second-degree murder with a firearm, aggravated battery, and unlawfully discharging a weapon within an occupied vehicle. He remains at the Hernando County Detention Center, denied bond.

Accompanying Wilkerson in charges is Moore, who's been arrested for being an accessory after the fact to attempted second-degree murder with a firearm, his bond is set at $5,000 in the Hernando County Detention Center.
