Two men have been arrested and are facing murder charges following a fatal stabbing incident earlier this month along the 6000 block of Gulf Freeway, as per an official update from local authorities. The victim, Otto Pop Coc, 23, was found deceased from a stab wound after seeking help on a Houston service road on March 14.
The Houston Police Department reported that on the night of the incident, at about 10:20 p.m., patrol officers responded to a call and discovered Mr. Pop Coc in distress. A bystander who witnessed the aftermath of the incident provided first aid and contacted emergency services despite not having seen the stabbing itself. HPD Homicide Division's E. Torres, A. Graf, and A. Ledford later identified the two suspects as brothers Crisanto Caal Ba, 27, and Daniel Salvador Caal Ba, 26. Originally, the motives and suspects in the stabbing were unclear.
According to the City of Houston News release, Daniel Salvador Caal Ba was already in custody on an unrelated charge at Harris County Jail and was additionally charged in connection to the March 14 stabbing after a consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. Crisanto Caal Ba was taken into custody two days ago without a struggle and has since been charged and booked on the murder allegation.
The City of Houston News also urges anyone with further information about this case to come forward. The HPD Homicide Division can be reached at 713-308-3600, or details can be shared anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. The community's cooperation is essential as the investigation proceeds. The booking photos of both Crisanto and Daniel Salvador Caal Ba have been released in conjunction with the news update, emphasizing the seriousness of this ongoing investigation.
