
Two suspects are now in custody relating to the arson case that saw the historic Anthony's Cummaquid Inn in Yarmouth Port laid to ruin last autumn; the Yarmouth Police Department has led a meticulous inquiry since the November blaze, which has culminated in the apprehension of 18-year-old Isabella Medeiros of West Yarmouth and 22-year-old Jacob Ladner of Forestdale, according to a Facebook post by the department.
The case progressed through the concerted effort of the Yarmouth Police, a trooper from Massachusetts State Police assigned to the State Fire Marshal's Office, and vital tips from the community that led to search warrants of the suspects' phones, the latter yielded the necessary evidence for Monday's arrests; the suspects face a host of charges comprising Burning of a Building (Non-Dwelling), Breaking and Entering in the Daytime for a Felony, Wanton Destruction of Property Over $1200, and Trespassing, both Medeiros and Ladner are being held on $20,000 bail awaiting their arraignment at Barnstable District Court today.
The Yarmouth Police Department has gratefully acknowledged the assistance provided by multiple agencies, including the Dennis Police Department and Massachusetts State Police Critical Incident Technical Investigations Team, as well as Cape Cod fire departments that tackled the challenging blaze, as per the department's appreciation "the hard work all agencies put into investigating this case and is appreciative of the Dennis Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Critical Incident Technical Investigations Team for their assistance."
