A series of unauthorized house parties have wrought havoc in Middle Tennessee, significantly damaging properties and leaving two teenagers injured. One event, reported by WSMV, saw near 50 juveniles in Mt. Juliet wreaking disorder, leading to one teen being hospitalized and another sustaining cuts after attempting to quickly escape through a briar patch.
In another incident, an East Nashville homeowner was forced to confront an unexpected party of around 200 juveniles at his property listed for sale. In a scene described by WKRN, the youths were seen fleeing the house as the owner, Kyle Grasser, and authorities arrived. Officers discovered evidence of alcohol consumption and drug use. These parties were promoted on social media platforms such as Snapchat, Instagram, and TikTok, which allowed them to attract an expansive number of attendees.
These gatherings, spearheaded by teens who gained unauthorized entry to these properties, have prompted a reaction from local authorities. Mt Juliet Deputy Chief of Police Tyler Chandler emphasized the importance of parents monitoring their children's whereabouts and being mindful of the content shared on their phones. Chandler highlighted that in one such party in Mt. Juliet, "the kids there had told their parents they were going to a friend’s house," according to a statement obtained by WSMV.
The aftereffects of these parties have left homeowners like Grasser facing significant expenses. The damage assessment for his property includes full replacements of the floors, rooms, countertops, and cabinets, Kyle Grasser told WSMV. In the ongoing investigation, Metro Nashville Police Department seeks to identify the individuals involved. Grasser articulated his situation as one of helplessness when witnessing his "whole life savings into these houses" being destroyed and further vowed to bolster security at his properties.
