Summer is on its way, and with it comes the time-honored tradition of equipping kids with the know-how to safely navigate the complexities of their young lives. Upper Arlington Police Division is stepping up again to host the 2025 Safety Town, a summer preschool program aimed squarely at instilling awareness and preparedness in our little ones. Since 1971, this program has steadily become a pillar in the community, boasting over four decades of guiding children through various safety scenarios. The City of Upper Arlington's official website proudly notes that around 400 children learn critical life-saving tactics from pedestrian to water safety annually.
Designed for youngsters about to embark on their educational journey, Safety Town is open to children entering kindergarten or first grade, eligible provided that they are five years of age before September 30, 2022. They'll have the opportunity to tricycle through a miniature village—complete with all the trappings of a small town—to grasp pedestrian and traffic rules firmly. Moreover, they're primed to handle emergencies safely and educated on everyday safety topics, from fire prevention to animal encounters.
As per tradition, the program will take place at Greensview Elementary School, with sessions draped across the warmth of the summer months. Eight sessions are on offer, with either a 9 am-noon or a 1-4 pm slot, catering to families' varying schedules. The dates are June 9-13, June 23-27, July 7-11, and July 14-18. However, these classes are known to quickly reach capacity, as parents are keen to secure a spot for their children in this vital program.
Registration comes with a $125 fee per child. Parents looking to enroll their kids should turn their browsers to UA Parks & Rec, where the registration process takes root. And here's where the early bird gets the worm: enrollment operates strictly on a first-come, first-served basis. It's sound advice to double-check your UA Parks & Recreation online account for accuracy to avoid any technical snafus that may jeopardize your chances. Make sure to quickly register your child if you want to specifically secure a session that fits best with your summer plans.
